Is Your Furnace Keeping Up with the Cold?

Blog Cover that reads

With the recent record breaking lows we have seen in eastern North Carolina, it’s imperative that your furnace be in prime working order. If it’s not keeping up with the cold temperatures we’ve been experiencing, there are a few things to assess that may be hindering its performance.

Too big…too small…or just right? If your HVAC system is too small, it will become overworked trying to keep up and the motor will eventually burn out. Set your thermostat to a high temperature, if it takes an overly long time, or never reaches the temperature at all, the unit could be too small.

Advance Mechanical offers free, in-home consultations, we take pictures of your current system and ductwork as well as take measurements of your home. We can provide you with the most efficient system based on size and needs.

Heat running non-stop, but the house doesn’t seem to be getting warm? A faulty thermostat may be the culprit. Turn the temperature up a notch, listen for the system to turn on, then check for warm air blowing through your vents. If you don’t feel anything, more than likely, your thermostat is not working properly.

Contact Advance Mechanical, our digital thermostats offer reliable, accurate temperature control and are easy to use. Some even offer filter change reminders and remote control.

Changed your filters lately? A clogged (dirty) air filter could be contributing to the lack of warm air circulating through your home. If filters need replacing, this is an easy fix, simply swap for new. However, if you have checked the filters and that does not seem to be the issue, you could have a broken blower motor.
